My First Blog Chain Letter

It had to happen eventually -- I received my first blog chain letter, or in this case musical baton. It came from one of my bloggers-in-crime Ernie Svenson, so I guess I ought to answer it. Here are the questions I have to answer:

-- what is my total volume of music
-- what is the last CD I bought
-- what song is playing right now
-- what five songs do I listen to a lot because they are special to me
-- five people I'm passing the musical baton to

To save space, I'm answering in the "More" space -- just click below if you want to see my answers.

I have to say that I feel a little isolated from the rest of my blogging friends who have answered this question (including Jim, [url=Fred, and Rick), because for such a young guy (hehe), my musical tastes are relatively old-fashioned. I am a big fan of the musical theater, having wanted to sing for years, but lacking the pipes. So, I indulge myself vicariously. Enough intro -- here are my answers:

1. Total Volume of Music -- I currently have 2026 "songs" totaling 13.3GB on my computer. I say "songs" because probably 200-250 of those items are podcasts or audiobooks, so they aren't really songs. In addition, I have probably 300-400 CDs that I haven't ripped, in all genres -- pop, rock, jazz, classical, and of course soundtracks and original cast recordings.

2. Last CD I Bought -- after The Light in the Piazza won a few Tonys, I decided to to see what all the fuss was about. Great voices and beautiful, complicated "musical" music.

3. What Song is Playing Right Now -- with as much music as I have, I really only listen to it when I am working out or traveling. When I'm at home I listen to XM Radio almost exclusively. Right now I'm listening to XM Cafe, which is playing a recorded live session of the Wallflowers.

4. Five Songs I Listen to a Lot Because They are Special To Me:
-- "For Good," Wicked Original Cast Recording -- my best friend recently died, and this song always makes me think of him.
-- "100 Years," Five for Fighting
-- "I Will Be Here," Stephen Curtis Chapman
-- "Inside," Vertical Horizon
-- "Perfect World," Indigo Girls

5. Passing the Baton -- with apologies, I will pass the baton to:
-- Jeff Beard
-- Steve Nipper
-- Matt Buchanan
-- Doug Sorocco
-- Sherry Fowler

Sorry, folks.....
