I don’t mention AltaVista much, either here or in the newsletter, because for some time now the search engine has been eating the dust of newcomers like Google or AllTheWeb. This week, AltaVista unveils a new, slimmed-down look in an attempt to reinvigorate its past glories. The new site features an ad-free home page, “fresher” search results (which is, of course, a relative concept), updated news navigation, and new tools for pinpointing relevant pages.
