This past week a lot of people, including Burgess Allison at TechShow and Glenn Garnes, have mentioned Google’s ability to find phone numbers and addresses. This feature has been around for some time at Google, and I’m surprised it’s just now making the rounds.

For those of you who don’t know how it works, just head over to Google and type in a person’s first name (or initial), last name, and then any combination of information — city, state, zip code, or area code. If the person is listed in Google’s directory, you’ll get the name, address, telephone number, and a nice link to Yahoo! or Mapquest showing you where the person lives. You can also do a reverse phone number search by just typing in the phone number. Scary, huh?

Fortunately, Google allows you to remove your name or business from the Google phonebook.
