A flurry of articles in the past few days about computer security. First, PC World reports that the Sobig.C virus is being spread by spamming techniques rather than traditional virus methods. And the Bugbear.B virus is back and infecting computers with a vengeance. Finally, a recent study finds that despite knowledge of these dangers, most people are leaving themselves open to hackers and other bad things.

This weekend I spoke at the Indiana Bar Association’s Solo and Small Firm Conference on the subject of Cyber-Privacy, and my quick survey found that only about 75% of the attendees of my presentation use firewalls in their practice. We definitely need to raise the level of awareness for lawyers as well as the general public.
