The University of Virginia has put together a great archive of records relating to the Salem Witch Trials, including court records, maps, record books, and more. Fresh Air, one of my favorite NPR programs, recently reviewed In the Devil’s Snare, a book on the Salem Witch Trials. One of the interesting theories put forward is that many of the people accused (and ultimately burned at the stake) as witches were men who had unsuccessfully led armies in a recent war with native indian tribes.
