If you have Windows XP installed on your computer, you may know that it loads all kinds of things you don’t need when it starts up. How do you get rid of these services? Here’s one way: select Start, then Run, then type services.msc, and press Enter. Click on the Extended tab to see a list of services that are currently running on your computer. To prevent one of these services from starting, double click on the service and select Disabled from the drop-down list of “Startup Types.”

Don’t have a clue what any of these services do, or what you can safely disable? Head over to Black Viper for help.
